What IS Done?

What a week!  Every time I think I’m done… there is just ONE more thing right?  Have you ever seen the movie with Steve Martin called the Jerk… and that’s all I need!  Its how I feel some days, all I need is to get my furniture moved, and my house packed, and the boxes shipped, and my 3 suitcases reduced to 1.  And I need to sell my motorcycle, and my car… that’s all I need to DO! … to be done.

Though I can officially say I am DONE at MUSD – I know I’ve BEEN done with the place pretty much after my return from Australia.  My mind was already packing it in and preparing to exit, stage Germany!  I told a friend of mine last week; I feel as though I am me again, I found my Jenny Suit and it fits once more.  I didn’t like the person I had become at that place, its not who I am, not what I expect of people, and surely not what I want anyone thinking that my attitude was what to expect of me.  So I CAN say I am done with that chapter of my life.  Certainly not the people who made that place worth going to… but the place (OH so DONE).  As Elyssa would do, wiping my hands of it all.

And what a way to say I’m done?  But get in a Limo with my best friends, and ride off to Sacramento to go see the opening of “Sex & The City” THE MOVIE!! OMG.  If you have never seen this or become addicted to these 4 women… one of them is YOU.  A mixture of two at any given show, could be YOU.  (Well okay guys, maybe not YOU… but then again… maybe! Hehe)  CARRIE and MIRANDI, and SAMANTHA, and sweet CHARLOTTE.  On the big screen together again.  We had so much FUN.  This theater was PACKED… women smiling and laughing with one another.  The SHOES we saw, the outfits, the groups of GIRLFriends – all together.  Many yelling to one another about the “LIMO” that they had waiting for them.  During the movie, certain “SCENES” would cause a cry from the entire group – “NO!” or, “OH MY GOD”, or “WOOOOHOOO!” as we clapped, cried, and laughed together in that big dark show room, our friends faces on the screen. I’ve posted a few photos in my friends folder on myspace.

So I have begun Annual Training with the Guard.  I drove up with the convoy on Sunday, in my car.  It was kind of a long day, the drive, getting hooked up with the other units.  My Battalion Commander had a late night meeting, and it became quickly apparent my focus – would be on the equipment to get out of Sacramento to Yuba City and hand the flag over from my command to the incoming commander – 1LT Underwood.  Camp Roberts is a dry, dusty, old World War II National Guard post.  I don’t think they have done any work to it since, one half of the Parade field is flanked with empty, rotting, uninhabitable barracks… I took some time and wandered with my camera.  I hope you enjoy the album.  The other side is where we have barracks, Supply buildings, and Admin offices while we do our Annual Training.  Its not completely falling apart, but I think anyone who has never been military would be hard pressed to find it an acceptable billeting arrangement… I’m just sayin!

While there I got the chance to spend time with Jon.  He is such a great friend, and it was so nice to be able to spend time together.  He made a great host, last night we went to dinner at his parents.  WHAT AN AMAZING couple.  I have no idea how to explain how wonderful they were.  They were so down to earth and real.  I instantly felt at home.  We have been friends since we deployed to Iraq, I think he summed it up.  I’ll miss the visits.  Whenever I get to Camp SLO or Roberts I always make a point to visit.  I also ran into SGT Reeger and SSG Oden yesterday at the Café on post.  I hadn’t seen either of them since our Connex came back to California.

I am back at Mom and Dad’s.  Kayla is in her final week of school, so far its all A’s and B’s!!  GO GIRL.  I’m so proud of her.  This year has been OH so much better.

It is totally time to get to bed, I have an early wake up.  Working on my change of command inventory and the days will be LONG!!

1 year, and 1 month until our BIG wedding in Rhode Island.  03 JULY 2009 – Friday.  SAVE THE DATE, I’ll have the wedding site up and running soon.

You’ve never lived until you’ve almost died, for those who fought for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know. -Anon
