Memory Gap Lane

I was stationed here in 1990 and moved back to CA in 1994.   As an 18 year old, Heidelberg Germany was a totally fun duty station.   But I was amazed as I drove onto PHV (Patrick Henry Village) how little looked familiar.

I checked into the Guesthouse and got directions to the PX… did we really have to drive on that road? Was there always a train to the right? The PX area (minus the new security barriers) looks much the same. Popeyes has aged… I remember how excited everyone was when they built it.

I had driven out and tried to figure out how I had gotten to my old barracks. Instead I ended up driving with the river to my right… that can’t be? Turning around I just couldn’t find a familiar site. Tonight I’ll go onto Patton and see if I can get out the old “MAIN” get where Kayla’s dad stood duty as an MP (now replaced by Pond’s security people). I want to see my old barracks, and find the location of the hospital Kay was born. Its just amazing how much changes in what??? Oh my… 15 YEARS!!! Oh I really didn’t need to do the math.

Off to training ~ then a new adventure to an old destination…
