On the Pontoon
Making waves out catching rays out on the roof… well not quite a pontoon one of my best friends “Barbie” has a ski boat and she lives up by the lake so one of my first stops when I returned to the valley was to her place. My other best friend Misha and our two daughters hopped in the car and headed up to the hills bags packed with sunscreen, beach towels, and beer.
It was a hot one as we road up the road through country towns and arrived at Barbie’s new house, it was exciting to be able to see her new place and after enjoying a tasty beverage we loaded up the boat and headed out. We normally go to Lake Hogan but this year water levels low and all were causing the water to be more of a muddy hole than anything so we kept on rolling up past Murphy and went to New Melones Lake
The water looked clear and inviting as we all clammered into the boat as B’s hubby prepared to back it into the water and she got ready at the wheel to get us out of the way of the dock. They have quite the system down, even Sophie likes to help, giving the go ahead look over her shoulder as everyone settles in.
Sophie – my gf’s boxer was already to go and enjoying being up with the girls who were giving her all the attention a sweet little boxer could ever want. Can’t get a sunburn out there, so on with the towel she got covered. As soon as we were out of the wake zone, off we went. The wind felt so good in my hair, and sitting in the back of the boat with my best friend Misha I couldn’t imagine a better day. Out on the water with the two women on the planet that completely get me.
After we arrived at a good location and anchored down – it was just time to chat and drink a cool one, enjoying the occasional swim around the boat, or taking a floaty out and just floating out in the water with the sun on your face. Misha and I had our daughters with us, it was so fun bantering back and forth about normal everyday challenges, stories that had yet to be told, jokes that needed to be shared and groaned about how awful they were. Just a good time. I needed that, no worries, no cares, just a day on the lake.
